James Sheehan: James Sheehan: Using diverse methodologies, the artist, James Sheehan, in"Falling Forward" has engaged in sustained scrutiny and close examination of his chosen subject--man and cityscape. The works in "Falling Forward" are colorful, intrepid journeys into Sheehan's psyche which produces beautiful yet exigent pieces. Sheehan manipulates and undermines the methods of observation and documentation he employs, implicitly asking the viewer to question their assumptions about what they see. The works in "Falling Forward" subtly erode our confidence in the very truths they claim to provide. Simultaneously loose and structured are his artworks; creating a world that is filled with imbalance and harmony much like our own. "Ever since I devoted my life to art, I feel like I've been falling. Not falling downward, but forward. Like floating. Drifting through time, no longer trying to figure out why, but perhaps how.
